BOSS is our PTA (Parent and Teacher’s Association) group and anybody who has links with the school is automatically a member of BOSS including all parents, grandparents and staff. BOSS is also open to anyone in the community who is interested in supporting the school and its work and the group provides the link between the school, the village and surrounding area that it serves.

As a PTA we raise money that can be spent on improving equipment and resources to enhance our children’s education and the facilities in school in general. The majority of our funds are raised through the events that we run. Some of our most popular events are the children’s discos, Christmas Fayre, and the Salterforth Fun Day. We also help out at school events by providing refreshments, organising raffles or simply being extra pairs of hands.

But BOSS is about much more than just fund-raising. It exists to provide closer links between home and school, introducing new parents to the school, and is an excellent way to bring staff, parents and community together socially in support of the school, working towards a common goal.

There are lots of ways you can help and support your child through BOSS even if you only have a small amount of time available. Offering to help before events or at other times during the year is so valuable – it really is a case of ‘many hands make light work’. It doesn’t matter if you can’t help on a regular basis, or even if you can’t come into school. There are always little jobs that can be done from home if you have half an hour to spare. Alternatively, you can of course, volunteer to be a Committee Member – simply contact us for more information!

SALTERFORTH FUN DAY

Salterforth Park hosts an annual family fun day in June which raises money for the local community. Hundreds of people from far and wide turn up to enjoy the activities which also includes the famous “drag race” and 5-a-side football tournament. The school and our PTA group also support the event each year with a tombola, face painting and children’s craft activities and we are always looking for volunteers to help us out at the event. It is wonderful to see the community join together as one big team and we have received generous donations from the Salterforth Fun Day Committee for which we are truly thankful!
