From 25th May 2018 new guidance – the General Data Protection Regulations or GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 – comes into place to govern how organisations look after information and applies to all 25 EU member states. This will affect how schools manage personal data and how this is protected and shared. The new legislation gives people more say over what organisations can do with their data.
The good news is that schools have been complying with the Data Protection Act 1998, and are very experienced at working within such regulations.
We have reviewed our existing procedures and as a result we have updated our Privacy Notices, Data Protection Policy and Consent Forms to make sure we are compliant with the new GDPR.
All personal data which we need for the daily running of the school, and which is therefore classed as “in the public interest” will be listed on “Privacy Statements” for your information. This data does not require consent.
Some personal data which we may wish to use from time to time (e.g. publicity photographs, social media posts, website material) requires explicit consent from the data subject.
We will use this website to post updates, and will correspond directly with you with more specific information over the coming weeks.
